Assistant Caregiver Career Path

After you've completed the Employee Application and your interview with us you will have taken the first step in working in Early Child Care. Below we have spelled out the next steps in acquiring the necessary documents and training to start your career in becoming an Assistant Caregiver. We've included steps for career growth incentive bonuses available after you've started working to reach your goal in acquiring the necessary training to reach your full potential as an Early Child Care Provider which can be acquired in as little as 1 year.

STEP 1 - Getting ready to be an Assistant Caregiver

You will want to bring all of your required documents on your first day of work. If you have any questions acquiring these documents you are welcome to contact me and I will help you know where to get them.

 - Current Background Check & Finger Prints card (these must be less than 1yrs old). You can obtain these though most BCI locations. Closest one to me is 3888 W 5400 S, Taylorsville - (801) 965-4445. *Please bring a copy to your interview.

 - Current CPR & First Aid Certification (these last 2-5 years). You can schedule to attend a class through Ruth Kingston (801) 864-4566.

 - Orientation Class Certificate (also called New Provider Training Class). Click here to see the schedule and information to take this class. During this class they will go over most Licensing rules. Please read through all the licensing rules and bring any questions to this class, download by clicking here.

 - Current Food Handlers Permit Click here to take online class.

 - Current Child Care Training Certificates (these are good for up to 1yr to count towards your 20hr/year training, however, if you have completed any ever please bring them because they will count as credit towards your CDA). If you are taking college classes towards any educational degree, college credits will count as the necessary yearly training, please bring your transcripts if applicable.

 - Current Resume or link to your ePortfolio that includes your resume if applicable. *Please bring a copy to your interview.

STEP 2 - Career Growth Incentive Bonuses

 

Annual Professional Development Bonus

All providers are eligible for an annual bonus through Care About Child Care called a Professional Development bonus on the anniversary of which they became a provider. To see the amount you would be eligible for and more information click here.

Career Ladder Bonus

At Li'l Lambs Child Care we encourage each provider to grow and so does Care About Child Care, in fact they will pay you more the higher you are on the Career Ladder Levels when you receive your annual Professional Development bonus. When you go to your Orientation class they will discuss the Career Ladder Levels, make sure and get a booklet from them to help you set your goals to complete your levels. You will receive emails every quarter of the available classes that quarter which are offered for FREE.

Scholarships 

After you've completed up to level 3 in the Career Ladder you will be eligible to complete your CDA (Child Development Associates). There are several sources to receive a scholarship to complete this such as the one available through Care About Child Care.
